A letter to Hate. A declaration of Revolt.
To a mister Benjamin A. Curtis of Bulldog Construction and Landscaping in Littleton, CO:
To begin with, you should know where this is coming from. Your alleged views on homosexuality, or the homosexual agenda as you might consider it, have been put front and center on the social media Goliath known as Facebook. I do not know you personally, as is the power of Facebook, and networking presented me with your statements via a friend’s wall post. I’ll refresh your memory:

And there we are. To reassess the original post was one of congratulations for a gay couple who has just gotten married. And then you dropped in with your abhorrent “Christian” megaphone and made sure the gays knew that they belonged in your respective Hell as you preached from your respective illiterate Heaven.
Now, I know what you are doing. You are initially looking at this letter and asking what it is. You are initially a little bit concerned about how long this letter is and don’t really want to read the entire thing because that would take a while and require a little bit of open-mindedness. And probably a dictionary. And now, as you’ve read thus far, it’s definitely to the point where you are throwing out curses and gay slurs and a ‘whatever faggot’ here and a ‘fucking queer’ there. And that’s okay because I expect it. Such is the weak man’s natural defense mechanism. But perhaps, since I definitely called you out on the hateful rantings, you could actually read on, so as to gather a sense of why your spewing of cheap-shot hate on a website is not something that is being ignored anymore. The receivers and the readers of such hate-filled, cyber bullying and pathetic idiocy are not simply reading it and shrugging their shoulders anymore. They are, believe me, gathering a collective ‘Fuck You’, and will make it known that you exist. They will spread your words. And believe me sir, words are powerful. You are quickly becoming the minority in this country, and in this world, whether you believe it or not.
Your first post reads as follows:
Okay…what? Let’s begin with the illegal part. How can you justify a statement like that? Sincerely? Let’s break it down, shall we? Gay people are people who sexually and emotionally are attracted to the same sex. They are born scientifically wired that way, and until they learn as they grow older about the world they live in, they do not know any other way to feel. There is no decisive moment in a gay person’s life when they decide it would be beneficial to deal with hate-mongering people like you the rest of their lives. How do I know? Because clearly I’m gay myself. Given all of that, I am a United States citizen. I went to school, I work, I pay my taxes. Now tell me why I should be illegal. I was born in Texas. I have a social security number. I vote. So tell me, please, how I could be considered a non-citizen in any way. It’s very simple – to say gays should be illegal is a fear-driven personal grudge. YOU want them illegal, because you want them gone. You want them gone because they threaten you. And they threaten you because innately, we as humans fear what we do not understand and what we might be ourselves.
Then there’s the war thing. Are you fucking kidding me? Did you serve in the military? Because it doesn’t seem so. Nor did I, see, but I think I have a better grasp on reality and how to honor our military. To use any reference of war in the sense of needlessly condemning a group of people to it is to disrespect our soldiers. They are sacrificing everything for us, no matter who they are. And the gay men and women, who served even when the military was absurd enough to forbid them from being who they were openly and proudly – they STILL served. And died. Died, to preserve our freedoms, our rights, and our advances, all so you could use a American-born billion-dollar company (Facebook) to spit on the graves of those who made your freedom to do so possible? Really? It’s obvious that when saying gay people should be sent to war, you are actually saying gay people should be sent to die. And that’s fine sir, really, it’s sticks and pathetic stones, but do NOT use the death of any person in a war as a weapon when over two-thousand of our soldiers have died in a needless war within the past decade. Do not dishonor them just because you are so confounded over your own homosexual thoughts. It’s really quite vile.
The correct spelling for the slanderous and insulting reference to homosexuals is “faggot”.
The word “therefore” is one word, not “there for”.
God, whatever God you are referring to, means nothing to you. Nothing. You don’t get to call yourself a Christian. I know Christians. I know the ones who use their religion for good, and nothing but. I know Christians who in fact do more than call themselves Christians and actually DO good things, and act with kindness towards everyone. EVERYONE. Isn’t that what Jesus said to do? Golden rule right? But that means nothing I suppose, to you, when it comes to certain people who threaten your manhood. We don’t accept that. No. It’s hypocrisy at its rotten finest. You don’t get to read a book about God and Jesus and doing good and being faithful, and then pick and choose which parts of it you want to actually follow. You don’t get to use God as a weapon when we both live in a country which allows me to believe in a different God, or no God. That’s not how it works. If you choose to use Christianity as ammunition, then you need to decide whether you want to be a Christian, or an American. A Christian who condemns any other person in the name of his or her religion cannot be both. Those who castigate and hate others in the name of their religion are what we call terrorists.
Perhaps you could answer a couple of questions. Rhetorical ones. The gay couple that got married – the one you decided to tell to go to Hell and call ‘faggits’ – in what way did their marriage affect you? Seriously. How were you so dishonored by two gay men getting married on the other side of the country?
……?
I’ll tell you one way they affect you positively. They contribute to the engine of America. They work, they consume, and they pay taxes. They pay taxes which ultimately might sustain you if you ever are injured on the job, or if you ever lose your job and fall on hard times. They pay taxes which fund the fire departments and the police departments which ultimately might save your life or the life of your children. That’s who they are to you. And nothing more.
Oh and, just to make a point – to find even more ridiculous irony in the crap you posted – you posted your hate speech on Facebook, using a computer. Agreed? There was a man named Alan Turing, an English mathematician and computer scientist, who is credited for creating the theoretical framework and design for the earliest modern computer. He essentially created the computer. And he was a homosexual. Or, faggit, if you will. Passively using a computer to spread completely random hate against homosexuals was probably the gayest thing you’ve ever done. Let’s entertain that thought every time you type your despicable tirades one finger at a time.
Again, the reason I am saying all of this is because I came across your post. You are ignorant. There are many people as ignorant as you, and had I come across their post, I probably would have been writing to them instead. But your words, your disgusting words are the ones that I found, and it’s not enough to comment on the thread of Facebook rants and raves, or to leave it all well enough alone and say “Oh well, that’s terrible”, and then let it go. No. Not anymore. You don’t get to sadistically feel better about yourself by speaking hate and not expect to be told how hateful you are. Not anymore. We’re done. We’re not afraid anymore. You can hurt me, scream at me, threaten me, and defile me, and still I will exist. I will be supported by those like me; those of us who are progressing and adapting and learning and listening to the upward movement of humanity. Those who are not cowards. Those who are not afraid. You and those like you do not get to tell me how to live. You do not get to tell me how to love, or what to believe in. I believe in the collective good, not the individual better and best. You, your hate, and your blind defamation are not relevant anymore. We are not fearful anymore. My friends and beyond are going to read all of this and post it on their Facebook walls, and their websites – there can no longer be hate without consequence. That’s what all of this is for. Because you must know, sir, with utmost sincerity, that the gays you speak of – every homosexual that has ever existed, does exist, or ever will exist, is stronger and braver than you will ever be.
Take from all of this what you will. I’m not an anonymous faceless expounder against needless hate. I am not afraid of you or those like you. My name is Alex. On twitter I’m @alexanderdavid. On Facebook I’m at - facebook.com/alexdavidjimenez. My website is at www.alexdavidjimenez.com. That is who I am. This is who we are. Good luck to you, and welcome to the twenty-first century.
Sincerely,
Alex Jimenez
